Birth Workers

  • I'm Iveth Balanta (She/Her/They), an immigrant partera from Abya Yala (Colombia). I come from the Valley of the Cauca River, my people are Quillancinga, Inga, Timaná, Balanta & Settler Spaniards. I've learned the art of birthkeeping from my abuelas, tías, and mamas parteras. I am a mom, partner, friend, and daughter, and I tend to my garden of relatives, my kitchen, and my altar with love every day. I love the land and its creatures, dancing, poetry, and the dreams and stories of my grandparents who keep me company in this magical Mojave Desert, the ancestral land of the Nuwuvi people, that shelters us and gives us a home. I provide comprehensive support to Latino families who want to live an empowered and dignified pregnancy, birth, and postpartum by weaving traditional practices and rituals into the care, nourishment, education, and advocacy they require to live and thrive. I've chosen this path of remembrance and healing to honor my women and all my sisters from other mothers, our families, and the sacredness of our rites of life.

Descendant of P'urepecha and Nahua Otomi people, my ancestral roots are from Michoacán and Zacatecas, México. I am a mother to two loving children and was born and raised on the beautiful lands of the Nuwuvi people, known today as Las Vegas, NV. I specialize in ancestral practices of cultural care and firmly believe that our traditions in childbirth are not only life-saving but also significantly enhance the holistic wellness of our communities. Every birthing person should experience a dignified, compassionate, safe and empowering birth and postpartum care.

Therapists

  • My name is Rachel Johnson and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I am a single mother who is passionate about working with individuals who are looking to develop a deeper sense of connection with others and themselves. I enjoy spending time with people who actively challenge the status quo and advocate passionately for their communities and loved ones. I felt called to this work when I started to explore what it could look like to understand others in my life in a meaningful and compassionate way. The education I received brought me closer to the work I wanted to do and becoming independent assisted me in starting the next journey of my career and self-development. I do not identify as a one approach therapist as I believe a majority of our change takes place within the context of relationships and that therapy is a relational avenue for change and insight development. I also believe that the individual attending therapy knows what their journey is meant to be and where their desired outcomes lay.
